Onshore Champions – Meet Sneha Thombre, the Adventure-Loving QXAS Accountant

The year 2022 began phenomenally for Sneha Thombre, one of QXAS’s most talented FTE accountants, as she was offered a chance to move to the UK to work from the client’s office. For a simple Mumbai-based girl who had never travelled abroad, it was an opportunity of a lifetime, and her joy knew no bounds. Fast forward to a few days later, and Sneha was all set to fly internationally for the first time, becoming our first onshore champion in 2022.

It was the 20^th of May 2022 when Sneha landed in the UK for the first time. Flying solo to a new country was exciting and frightening at the same time, but her family, friends, and Team QXAS were with her throughout the journey.

Life in the UK

For the first few days, Sneha stayed at a guest house arranged by the QXAS’s onshore support team. To make her feel comfortable, Shalin Shah, Account Manager with QXAS, who is also based in London, constantly kept in touch with her.

In Sneha’s words, “Shalin was a great support to me when I first moved here. He and his family went out of their way to make me comfortable. They even invited me home and took me on outings, which I will forever be grateful for.”

Soon after, Sneha began looking for accommodation closer to her workplace in Beaconsfield. The hustle paid off when she landed a cozy little space in a beautiful house owned by a gracious family in Wycombe. She is currently busy adjusting to her new life in the quaint English town.

A Typical Workday for Sneha

Sneha handles the end-to-end accounting, personal tax, and end-client calls and emails for one of our biggest clients – TaxAssist Accountants.

Her day begins early as she hustles to get to work by 8:30 AM. The workday kickstarts with meeting her team, prioritising the tasks for the day, and checking them off the list one by one. She powers through the day until 5 PM with a short lunch break in between. Once home, she prefers spending the rest of the day chatting away with her family back in India or having warm conversations with the cordial family she stays with.

On the weekends, Sneha enjoys exploring the neighbourhood and setting out on small adventures. She looks forward to meeting new people and making friends to call her own in a country far away from home.

When asked about her adventures, she excitedly narrated her experience travelling to Central London with Shalin and his family. She is currently busy navigating the town of Wycombe and its vicinity.

Learnings She’d Love to Share

Leaving behind her simplistic life in Mumbai, Sneha is committed to making the most of her onshore opportunity. She has learned several things along the way, which she fondly shared with us. Hear it from her:

Take the plunge – Opportunities don’t knock on your door every day. So, when they do, you take the plunge and grab them.

Believe in people – In belief lies great strength. The way my family, friends, and teammates have cheered for me throughout this journey is commendable. I probably wouldn’t be here without their support and guidance.

Learn as much as you can – The key to climbing up the ladder and growing professionally and personally is to keep learning every moment.

Networking can get you places – There’s a lot you can learn from people. If you are to sustain in a new country and indulge in the most memorable adventures, you must keep your networking game strong. Attend workplace events, go out for team lunches, and rock that after-work party. The number of amazing people you meet at these events will surprise you.

Long Way to Go

The journey has just begun for Sneha, and she still has a long way to go. Although she’s currently on her own, her husband is expected to join her soon. Together, they are ready to explore a new country and enjoy the adventure that is life!
