Hello there, I’m Arjun Varshneya, AVP – Audit Operations at QX Accounting Services. I’m based in Noida and have been working with QX for 4.5 years. My journey here began as an Assistant Manager and has progressed to a role that I’m extremely proud and passionate about. Join me in exploring how my life as an AVP looks like.
At QX, we embrace the hybrid work model, offering the freedom to choose our in-office days. My team and I have settled on Tuesdays and Thursdays for our office days—perfect for balancing productivity and personal life. My day kicks off around 8 AM IST with some quality family time, a steaming cup of tea in hand, and a bit of playful chaos, courtesy of my toddler.
By 12 PM IST (7:30 AM UK time), I’m in the office, ready to take on the day ahead of our clients. This early start gives me the opportunity to prioritise tasks and set the pace for the day. After a quick check-in with my team’s audit managers, where we discuss resource planning and get updates on ongoing audits, the rest of the day is a balancing act of managing deadlines, leading teams, and preparing client and internal reports.
By night, I’m back home, enjoying dinner and unwinding with my family. On alternate days, I squeeze in some exercise—because, hey, even auditors need to stay fit!
Getting to know your team isn’t just about office hours. We often organise team lunches and dinners for various occasions, helping us build stronger bonds outside the office walls. One memorable event was last year’s QX Family Fun Day—a whirlwind of games, dancing, and interaction with board members, colleagues, and their families. It was a blast and an eye-opener to the vibrant culture we’ve built at QX.
One thing I’ve realised at QX is how incredibly supportive our team and clients are. Every day brings a new learning opportunity, reinforcing my belief in being a lifelong student to thrive in this career. It’s not just about auditing; engaging with different support teams like HR, Sales, Marketing etc. opens a whole new world of knowledge.
Here’s a fun example: I recently heard the term “MIA” from someone in HR, and I was momentarily puzzled. Turns out, it means “Missing in Action”—a phrase I now drop into conversations like a pro!
On the audit front, we’re constantly evolving, adopting new tools and methodologies, and finding ways to automate working papers. This not only boosts our efficiency but also helps our clients adapt to new technologies and systems.
In the end, it’s all about staying curious, embracing change, and finding joy in the journey—whether it’s tackling audits or decoding new slang!
